 Eye Heart U [Delilah]

Toby rolled over on his bed, his eyes fluttered open to stare at the alarm clock that was mysteriously buzzing. He hadn't set the damn thing to beeping and not radio, had he? Gah. He groaned and slammed his fist down on it, turning the annoying racket off. Laying there for a few moments, Toby felt like falling back asleep, but he forced himself to stay awake and get up from his very comfortable position. What was today again? ... Saturday! And oh yea! He had promised his best friend he'd go to the mall with her today. Slightly moaning about the aspect of having to go shopping(although he rather enjoyed it if it was with his friends), Toby stood up from the bed, bumping into his dresser and then picking out a pair of black jeans and a t-shirt that read "Eye Heart U" on the front in deep red lettering on a black shirt. Wasn't his favourite shirt, but he shrugged and went off to the bathroom to shower and get ready. After doing just that, his hair touseled and left to dry on it's own accord in it's own way, he couldn't care less if it was messed up, Toby scrounged up some breakfast. Fruit Loops. His favourite.

Toby looked over at a clock, it was nearing 11:30, and their set time to meet at the mall was 12:30, so he had an hour before he had to be there. He wasn't really ever late for anything, although most people would say otherwise. He just told them they were early. A smile came to his face as he thought about meeting Delilah. She was an awesome girl, and he loved her more than anything. Deciding to leave his dorm, as he didn't want to spend any time there because it was increidbly boring and he might as well get going anyway, Toby grabbed a black and grey striped hoodie from a hook hanging close to the door. He also grabbed the keys to his '65, fully working, Ford Mustang. He loved that black car. A bit of rust was around the fenders, but that couldn't be helped. It was an older car. He almost forgot his wallet, but turned back before he closed the door and quickily grabbed it out of a wooden bowl sitting close to the door on a little table.

Toby hopped into his car and drove off campus toward Noai Central, the mall. On the way there he listened to the radio, which was telling him that it was supposed to be a nice sunny day. Looking out the window, the radio man was actually right for a change. The sun was shining, and Toby smiled, grabbing his sunglasses and putting them on. On arrival, he pulled into the closest parking spot he could find and jumped out, looking for Delilah on the way in to the mall. He checked his watch; he wasn't late. Hopefully she wouldn't be either.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

Trying to ignore the alarm clock is a lot harder to do than she thought. Generally, she was up before the crack of dawn but not today. Today she had slept until almost 8:30. Yawning and groaning at the same time, she slammed her hand down on top of the alarm to shut it off. Needless to say, it didn’t work out and so she had to smack it a few more times before it quit. Of course, she ended up knocking it off the end table leaving it smashed to smithereens on the floor. Well, it was a good thing that she was going to the mall today or else she might be out of luck. Delilah still yawning managed to push herself from the bed towards her shower. It never took her long to shower. Thirty minutes at the most. It was drying and styling her hair that took the longest to do. Running her fingers through the wavy mass of blonde she glanced at the mirror and was satisfied with what she saw.

Instead of the usual green eyes, she was wearing her natural blue ones. On a general basis, her eyes would be green but she’d decided that wearing clear contacts was the way to go today. Delilah was always very casual in her style. Comfort while looking good was her number one way to dress. She wore a white t-shirt where in large block letters and a zebra metallic it read, ‘music is my religion.‘ The top was put over a longer black tank. To add to the tops, she had paired it with her usual jeans and black ballet flats.

She still had about an hour and a half left before she was supposed to meet up with Toby. Ahh, Toby. He was her knight in shining armor. Her secret paramour. Hah, she only wished he was her paramour. Unlike most people Delilah had a mini-fridge and such stacked with food. There was no way that she was going to be eating horrible school food for the entire year. Oh no, everyone needed a break from mulch and more mulch. She decided that this morning she was just going to grab something quick and light. It wasn’t like she couldn’t pig out when they went somewhere for lunch.

Once she had about thirty minutes left, Delilah went on her way towards the mall. The petite Army brat was rarely late anywhere. She was always on time. Punctuality was something that had been enforced among her home. Well, she wouldn’t say home, maybe lifestyle was a better choice of word. Either way, the moral of this story was that she was never late to anything. Brushing her hair off her shoulder, she parked in the mall parking lot and glanced around for that familiar face that she liked to look at so much.

Her blue eyes finally located him and she got out of her car. "Toby!" Grabbing her black tote-purse, she skipped towards him. This was extremely uncharacteristic of what most of the world got to see. Most of the world saw a cold, calculated, and very distant Delilah. However, now that she had been here for two years, she was a little softer than what she used to be. She was still learning to break down her walls and let people see her instead of just a wall. With a smile on her face, she glanced at Tob's shirt. "You heart me? Awh. Well, I heart you too, Mr. North."

He didn't have to wait long, out of the corner of his eye he saw the familiar lovely lady skipping toward him. Toby's face broke out into a grin, hearing his name being called. She was so different from what she used to be around him. She used to be all distant and barely talk to him at all. But of course, he got her to open up in the two years he's known her. His energetic, talkativeness must have rubbed off on her, because now she was smiling and skipping her heart out. When she came up to him and looked down at his shirt he did likewise, looking back up at her when she said she hearted him as well. "Good. Because if you didn't, I'd have to kill you. Or you know, forcably make you adore me." Toby said, raising his hands to do an immitation of Mr Burns from The Simpsons evil hand movements, like when he said 'excelent'.

Toby couldn't help but laugh, looking up at the tall doors of the mall. "So, we actually need something here?" He asked, changing the subject slightly. "Or we just gonna have some fun?" Toby didn't care for having to actually pick up something that they needed. That type of shopping, for him, was in, get what you need, and out as soon as possible. Unlike when friends went shopping for fun, he could spend hours in one store, trying everything on or laughing at the stupid crap some stores sold.

Toby started up the couple of steps to the door, opening the full window door, letting Delilah go ahead of him. So gentalmanly. Not really. He was brought up to open doors for the ladies and had even done it for the little girls in his elementary school when he was younger. They gushed over that and thought he was the most cutest thing in the world. Being young and thinking girl's had cooties, he just opened the door and left without saying a word, just trying to do what his mother told him and then leave the icky girls to their giggling.

Delilah snorted, "you couldn't force me to do anything if your life depended on it and you know it." There was still a smile on her face as she looked up towards him. He was taller than her. Of course, just about everyone was taller than her 5'4 self. Her height--or rather lack of--wasn't something she liked to be reminded about. However, she was generally reminded at least four to five times a day. It got a tad irksome. It was just another thing that she could live without. "But lucky for you, I heart you anyday."

She snickered and then pondered his question for a minute. "I think I need to pick up an alarm clock since I broke mine...again." Breaking her alarm clock was a common occurence. She was half asleep whenever she tried to shut it off. If you wanted to meet a morning person then she wasn't your girl. On a general basis, she was grumpy and wasn't a very nice person until she had herself some Starbucks. However, today's prospect of going shopping with Toby had made her natural happy-go-lucky self kick in. "Unless you wanna be my personal alarm clock and wake me up every morning." There was a joking tone in her voice as she glanced up at him in mick seduction.

"But other than that I think some fun is in order." She could do with some fun. Fun always equaled good memories and good times. Ah, there went the manners. That's one of the many things that she liked about him. Her blue eyes spotted a group of girls looking at both her and Toby. God, she hated that. There they went with that whole pre-judgemental crap again. People always seemed to be shocked over the fact that she and Toby hung out together because they looked so different. "Argh, why do they always have to look at me like that? I hate that."

She loathed the way they stared. It was as if they viewed her as a girl who was loose in her ways because her closest friend was a boy. A very good-looking boy that she had the hots for but would never ever tell. He would probaby be wierded out by the whole entire thing. The only boy who knew her the best in the entire world aside from her other friend here. Delilah rarely let anyone in and he had somehow gotten through to her. It had taken him a while but he had pesisted and she had finally given in.

Toby snorted back. Of course he could force someone to do something. What was she smoking? He made a face at her as if to say screw you, though a grin broke out onto his face as she said she 'hearted' him anyday. Well good, he could live with that. A slight groan escaped him as she said she broke her alarm clock, again. She was always doing that. It was like, every day. Well... not really. But it seemed like she was always buying a new one.

"Seriously girl, you should think about not hammering those things with a sledge for once." Toby said, mentally picturing an evil looking Delilah with a massive sledgehammer held over her head, looking at the beeping alarm clock like she wanted to bash it's brains out. Freaky. Then she just had to look suductive, making Toby fake shudder. "Ew, that's just icky." He said, although of course he liked it and didn't think it was icky. He loved Delilah, a little bit more than he should.

Fun. Good. Toby loved fun. His thoughts of what they could do today were interupted by that group of girls who seemed to just stare. He felt a bit awkward, but a grin broke out on his face and he gave a friendly wave, in which they quickily looked away and giggled to themselves. Weird. He listened to Delilah complain, slightly rolling his eyes.

"They just stare because they're jealous." Toby said, a grin coming to his face. "I mean, who wouldn't be jealous of the person who get's to hang out with me?" He said, boasting a bit. Yeah, he had a high self esteem, but he wasn't constantly saying that he was awsome, just once and awhile for fun. "But really, they're pricks. Don't pay attention to them." Toby told her, his voice getting a bit more serious. Really, they were just idiots who thought they owned the world and that it was odd that two people who looked so incredibly different would hang out with each other. They were idiots.

"Hey, it shouldn't go off in the mornings telling me to wake up. It's not right." Yes, she generally blamed the inatimate object known as the alarm clock for it's own cause of death. If she hadn't murdered it then it never would have shut up. Honestly, Delilah could not be held accountable for her morning actions. She wasn't quite sane yet. Her sanity didn't kick in until about twenty minutes later when she had just gotten out of the shower."It should be like my phone. On silent at all times while in class." Ah yes, typical Delilah making humorous excuses for her actions. It was just so like her to do that though. Of course, those that knew her knew also that she was kidding. If it was her fault then she would take honest responsibility for it. It didn't mean that she wouldn't joke about it though unless it was something majorly serious.

"Uh-huh. You know you want me, Toby North. You want me bad." She winked at him and then laughed. Her blue eyes seemed to twinkle as she wrapped her arms around his waist. Who said she got to do that? It was the privelege of being one of his closest friends. She glanced over at the other girls and stuck her tongue out at them. "I know that's true. I mean, you're just so hot. How could anyone not want to have their way with you right in the middle of the mall." Delilah said this loud enough for the other girls to hear. Was she jealous? No, of course not. That was silly talk--maybe not that much of silly talk but still. However, she was also getting her fun for the day. Those girls had to be freshmen. They didn't look any older than fourteen or fifteen at the most.

"Aye, aye cap'n. I won't pay attention to them at all." She grinned at him while brushing her hair out of ehr face that had already started to fall. "So, where to first, oh grand captain of mine? Since I am your hostage today, lead me where you will and I shall follow." Yes, Delilah did have a quirky sense of humor. It was something that people loved to hate about her. Plus, she always seemed to be loaded with enough sarcasm ammo to last her an entire lifetime. How she managed to pull this off was beyond anyone. There was no denying her skills though at impromptu remarks and comments that could sting and slice through even the coldest artic wind. Something some people called her.

Toby rolled his eyes, of course she'd try to blame the alarm clock for it's own fate. The thing wasn't even alive! It was a peice of machinery designed to wake people up, yet Delilah thought it was the devil or something, but she kept on buying a new one. The wacked up girl. But Toby loved her nonetheless. "Right." He responded, shaking his head a bit.

Oh yeah, she was right, he wanted her, that was for sure. But no way in heck would he tell her without a joking tone in his voice. That would just be awkward and probably end up with them drifting apart in their friendship, which would be a much harder heartbreak than what he was going through right now. He couldn't live without Delilah. "Oh yea baby, you know it." He said, licking his lips in a suggestive manner, then laughed along with her, a grin on his face. His smile grew a bit bigger when she wrapped her arms around him, and he in turn put a arm around her waist. He laughed at what she said next. Yeah right, he had a feeling that most girls he'd ever meet in his lifetime would just want to be friends with him, and nothing more. Most people didn't even know he did have a caring romantic side. But he did, it was just hidden. Because, well, he didn't have anyone to show it too. Well, he had had a girlfriend in the past. But those few little things were basically just flings that lasted, at tops, a month. Nothing too serious.

Toby snorted, captain? Him? Suuuure, whatever. "Hmm.... well my beautiful hostage, I'd say to the bedding department in Wal Mart." Toby said, a wicked grin on his face. Of course he didn't mean it. He'd never force anyone into anything, expecially in.... Walmart. But on a more serious note, "Lets walk and see if we come across anything remotely interesting."

"Of course, I know it. I see it in your eyes all the time." Laughing lightly with him, she brushed her hair out of her face. Already it had started to bug her. Stupid hair. One of these days, she was just going to chop it all off again. Hah, not. She loved her hair way too much to ever go that short as she when she was thirteen. An eyebrow rose and she snorted. "Walmart bedding? Jeez, and I thought you had more class than that. I guess I was wrong. Now, I'm really not gonna let you have your way with me." There was a playful tone in her voice while she fought to stop herself from smiling. It failed. She ended up smiling anyways. Rolling her eyes, she kept an arm around him.

"Walking around sounds good. We have to at some point stop at a Starbucks though. I need a caramel macchiato." So, she didn't really need one but she really wanted one. They were just so darn good. A vanilla ice frap. was also another addictive form of coffee. It was no secret that Delilah Rafe was a Starbucks-aholic. Of course, being addicted to Starbucks wasn't nearly as being hooked on drugs. However, Delilah always had a cup of java from Starbucks in the morning to make her seem...friendlier. At least when she drank some she wasn't as crabby as she was without it.

Tugging on the tank underneath her shirt to stop the ruching effect, her eyes glanced around the area. "But first, fun. Starbucks can wait just for a little bit. Note, I didn't say forever." Shaking her head with a smile on her face, Delilah spotted a store that was totally not her usual form of style. "Oh! I have an idea. I think today calls for...." A mischievious grin crossed her face. It was a look awfully remniscent of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. "Dun...dun...dun...makeovers!" Hah, this was going to be fun, if he liked the idea. "Unless you're too manly," she coughed, "chicken then I toltally understand."

Delilah looked up at him innocently with wide blue eyes that totally gave her away. Of course, her challenging his manhood should totally work. It always seemed to work whenever she challeneged the army boys manhood. They suddenly got all macho and took the challenge. Of course, they had no idea what they were getting into. They were walking into a perfected Delilah trap. "And whoever gives the other the most opposite look of how they look right now while still making them look good then the loser has to tell their deepest and most darkest secret." This sounded like a perfecly rational idea to her. Of course, she was going to win so that's why it was such a good idea. "Deal, mi amigo?"

Toby mocked surprised, what was wrong with Walmart bedding? It was plush, just like any other home decor place. Maybe a bit more open, but that was the kinky part, was it not? Okay, remember that, Delilah didn't think sex in Walmart beds was romantic enough. Maybe... Sears Home? Oh yeah, she was probably a Sears girl. He laughed mentally at himself. Nah, he really wasn't that shallow, he just liked to joke.

Delilah and her Starbucks. It was basically past a normal obsession. It was an addiction. An obsessive addiction that she basically couldn't live without, at least it seemed like that to Toby. But he couldn't really argue, he could go for a cup of java. Although he really adored the Green Tea Fraps himself. Or... A strawberry Frap. Those were excelent as well. Mind you, anything coming from Starbucks was probably amazing. "Noted." He responded, nodding his head. Hopefully he wouldn't forget.

As the mischevious grin spread across her face, a worried one materialized on his. Wait... make-a-whatas? Makeovers!? As in 10 year old girls smothing their younger brother and making him put on a dress and red lipstick make overs? Um... how about no? "N..." He started to object, stopping when she questioned his manhood. Oh no, not another Delilah set up. She would make him do something so incredibly stupid. But... it was all for fun, yes? He let her explain the rules, taking into consideration of what she might do to his perfectness that was him. While thinking of whether or not to accept, his tongue played with his lip ring on the inside of his mouth, after about 10 seconds he gave up. "Okay fine, deal" He said, sighing. He'd have to win, no way could he tell her his deepest secret. He'd have to lie, it'd be too awkward if he didn't.

As usual her plan had worked. He had walked right into her trap. Oh, life was good. There was just one small flaw in her plan and she saw it now. How the heck was she going to dress him another way when she liked the way he was now? Damn. This was going to be a tough one. It also then hit her that if, an extremely big if, she lost she'd have to spill her secret. That wasn't cool. Delilah knew she couldn't lie either. Had she just walked into her own trap? Yeah, she probably just had.

"So, since I came up with the idea, you get to initiate it and make me over first. My only plea is that you don't do anything too over the top say...dye it green. I don't think I'd look very charming with green hair or streaks period. Anything other than that I'm all yours. Do with me what you will. Not too much pain, no bad hair, is all I ask." Honestly? Could you imagine her with green hair? It just wasn't Delilah-like at all. Why she was making him go first was merely an idea to let her known just how far he would go to try and win. Plus, it would so give her an upperhand. The petite girl thought that she had laid her requests out well. She honestly didn't think he'd streak her hair green. He'd probably be pondering that idea now and figuring out how to get her to let him dye her hair a strange color. Actually, he'd probably just tease her about it. That's what she hoped for anyways.

"Oh, and we can't see how we're made over until we're both finished with the other so that means I don't get to see me and you don't get to see you. Simple enough?" Yeah, Delilah liked to add final rules when they made the most sense. They did make snese. "So, that way we can't object to how we look. Oh! One other thing. We have to ask strangers what they think...if they hate it then the one with the most hates loose." Brushing her hair off of her shoulder, she glanced around the area. Maybe her plan wasn't so bad. Maybe she could get him to confess his undying love for her. Hah, as if that was his secret. His secret was probably something like the fact that he still watched Captain Planet or he watched Blue Clue's.

No green hair? Damn. He thought she'd look excellent with green hair. Actually, no he didn't, but it would be funny, right? Right. "Fiiiine, ruin my master plan." Toby said, putting a glum look on his face as he pouted about her silly little rule. "If I can't dye your hair green, then you can't cut my hair." He said, stating the one thing he couldn't live with. Short hair was a big no no for him. It was icky, and he adored his long locks. He wouldn't care if she dyed his hair green, as long as it wasn't snot green or some other disgusting colour.

And the rules continued, just like Delilah always did. Once she got going on something like this, she never really shut up. But it was always great fun in the end. Especially this whole thing about getting to do whatever the hell he wanted with her. Fun fun, that was for sure. "Alright." He said, a grin spreading across his face, "ya done yabberin'?" Toby couldn't wait to get started, a mental picture of Delilah with black hair (not permanent, of course. She'd probably kill him) and total gothness cloaked his mind, making his grin even bigger.

He didn't wait for a reply. "Come." He said, taking hold of her wrist and pulling her along to the store that she had spotted just a moment earlier that had led to this makeover idea. It was full of baggy pants, black clothes, dark hoodies, and grunge type of wear. Yep, boyish, g-unit type clothing for her. That would be perfect. Into the store he went, going through the first rack he saw, pulling out a pair of pants that looked like the person wearing them would trip over the crotch. He showed it to his friend, wiggling his eyebrows at her in an amused way.

She rolled her eyes. He probably hadn't even been thinking about dying her hair green. The 'preppy'-looking Delilah knew that she was in a for it though. He was going to do something completly crazy. "Uh-huh, as if I would ever let anyone cut your hair. If they did then I'd kill them. Although....it might end up being one color before it's all over with." Delilah's smile made her look if she was all-knowing. In a sense she was and wasn't. She had no idea what he was brainstoriming up for her beyond the fact that it was going to be something that didn't look like her. She mock pouted, "I don't yabber. I occasionally ramble but I don't yabber." Her acting skills over the years had improved. "You're so mean to me. To think I love you and this is the way you treat me." Shaking her head, she laughed lightly.

"Come? What am I chattel?" Following along with him, she watched as he went straight towards the store that had helped form her brilliant idea. As he went over towards the racks her eyebrows drew up and a look of half-horror and half-disbelieving. He wouldn't really put her in those would he. She looked at his face and then back the pants. "You do remember that I can barely walk in regular clothes let alone gangster wannabe clothes?" She sounded so funny when she said the words gangster and wannabe. It was just the way she pronounced them. Of course, she always seemed to have a strange accent. It held traces of a European influence as well as a Carribean influence. She had a bad habit of letting her 'r's roll.

She was originally French but her parents had adopted her from her national home when she was two. So, she therefore became an American citizen. It mean that this year if she wanted too that she could vote. She hadn't decided if she wanted to vote yet or not. "Are you really going to put me in those or is this just your form of merciless torture?" Delilah was hoping that it was the latter. He couldn't honestly think she'd look good in those things did he? Well, knowing him...he probably did.

Good. No hair cutting for Toby; he'd kill the first person he saw if he woke up one morning with short or no hair. That's why he loved to have Delilah around at parties when he knew he was going to get totally wasted, she'd stop him from doing something incredibly stupid. Eh, hair colouring he could live with. You could easily just dye it again. And hell with her not yabbering. She was constantly yabbering! The girl didn't know herself. Toby's eyes got wide as she said he was mean to her. "I am not! I love you like a little fat boy loves cake." He told her with a smile on his face and a brisk nod.

Toby grinned at her expression when he pulled out the pair of jeans. It was great, and he wished he had a camera to capture the look. It was simply brilliant. "Gangster wannabe." Toby said in a mocking voice, making fun of how she said those two words. She was such a funny girl. "I do not care." He said in reply to her not being able to walk in clothes. Yeah right. Lies, that was what that was. He looked at the size, which was a medium. Yeah right like that would ever fit her. She was so skinny. "Lets see..." He said to himself, going back to the rack to find a small.

"Here ya go." He said, grin still on his face as he plucked the smaller pants from the rack and shoved them at Delilah. "I'm really gonna put you in those and it shall look good and of course, merciless torture is in order." Toby said, "remember, it was your idea." It was this or... hmm... he didn't really have any other ideas at the moment.
